Intern Programme 2018/19
St Mark’s is a city centre resource church, planted from Gas Street Birmingham in October 2017. The vision is to see many come to faith, be set free and the city flourish. We’ve watched this start to happen and are looking to expand our activities this coming year. The church now has the structures to host a formal intern programme, and its current size and pace of growth provide many opportunities for successful applicants to flourish.
The vision of the St Mark’s intern programme is to see you grow closer to God and closer to the job market! We hope that by the end of the year you will know more of who God is and who you are, and have acquired skills and experience that enable you to successfully apply for jobs in your chosen field.
We describe the programme using 3 P’s. We want to see you grow
--Personally – in your relationship with God, as a disciple of Christ
--Professionally – growing your skills and gaining experience in your chosen area
--In the context of People – that your growth takes places within the context of an intern team, the staff team and the community of the church. We encourage interpersonal development and team working, as highly regarded skills for employers.
To achieve this, we offer a range of specific teaching, training and practical components – customised to the individual applicant. The elements of the programme common to all interns are:
--Weekly accredited teaching provided by Gas Street Birmingham intern programme
--Content specific teaching provided St Mark’s church on occasional basis (eg responding justice and the poor in the city, inner healing and emotional health)
--Training in the context of St Mark’s, in ministry specific areas
--Weekly team meeting with St Mark’s staff, line managed by member of staff
--Mentoring on a one to one basis, by a mature Christian outside the staff team
--Paid for place at a Christian festival (eg Focus, Wildfires or similar), and a training conference or event (eg. Worship Central, The Week).
In addition, interns will be fully involved in the life of the church, to gain a good understanding of the organisation as a whole. This will involve activities such as attending a small group, helping with special events (e.g. Festival of Life, Kingdom Come), participating in prayer meetings, serving at Alpha, and other associated tasks.
We are able to offer intern positions in 4 areas:
--Worship
--Production
